When I was a kid, I was obsessed with reading in general and mysteries in particular. I read every Nancy Drew and Hardy Boys book I could get my hands on. Now that I'm old an adult, that passion for reading has turned into a passion for writing.
For me, Sugarcomb Lake is the perfect escape. I love writing about Irene Meddler's bizarre conspiracy theories, Barbara Norman's complete lack of self-awareness and Justin Brown's misguided pranks. I like my protagonists to be flawed, yet relatable. And I like my cats to be, well, cats.
Crafting mysteries is a lot of fun for me. Weaving clues and red herrings into my stories is something I take particular delight in. I also like to balance all the murder investigation stuff out with a touch of romance.
